Local Donations Make New Fire Truck Possible

Post date: Oct 27, 2017 8:46:05 PM

In an effort to replace old and worn out equipment the Hugo Volunteer Fire Department has purchased a used 2001 Chevrolet 3500 4x4 fast attack brush truck.

This unit was funded exclusively through donations from local businesses and local land owners, including Wiepking Fullerton Energy who funded 50% of the purchase price, Tradewind Energy, Xcel Energy, Mortenson Construction, INV Energy, Hugo Liquors, Sorensen Roofing, Veris Enviromental, John Forristall, The Jolly Ranch, Chris Solze, John Higgins, and Gary Schaffer. The Department would like to thank all of you, for without your generous donations this project would not have been possible

This unit, which was purchased from the Left Hand Canyon Fire Protection District Northwest of Boulder, will allow the department to respond quickly to grass fires. With it's 400 gallon water tank, 200 gpm pump, and seating for 4 fire fighters, it will respond with a well equipped crew. Its unique capabilities will also allow it to be used as a second due rescue truck and vehicle fire unit.

This truck is a huge asset in the community, and it will be used in many facets of the Fire Department's duties.
